HP (High Performance) Line Operator



Job Purpose:

  • HP Line Operators ensure that performance and manufactured products meet or exceed efficiency and company quality standards.

  • Ensure that production facilities and processes conform to GMP Standards.

  • Ensure all workers are fully utilized in their assigned work stations.

Responsibilities include:

  • Holds a position on a line in a work center.

  • Responsible for the operation of the assigned equipment/work center/manual manufacturing processes and achieving daily production completion targets.

  • Responsible for equipment upkeep and housekeeping of designated production areas.

  • Participate in Lock Out Tag Out procedures.

  • Knowledge of equipment set up and equipment changeovers (trainable).

  • Performs all Work Order set ups/changeovers as well as Line Clearance by following daily Production Schedule, Start-up/Shut down checklist and quality checklist.

  • Performs primary and auxiliary equipment diagnostics and troubleshooting.

  • Leads efforts to troubleshoot immediately after an issue is identified.

  • Assists High Performance Line Leader to ensure that all requested components and bulks are received correctly to the production line when necessary. Must verify parts against BOM when needed.

  • Utilizes Code Request for Lot code details to set up equipment (Ink-jet printers, labelers, cartoners, etc.) when necessary. Communicates errors to Area Facilitator to ensure such information gets verified and corrected prior production.

  • Able to communicate to Area Leader, Line Technicians on line performance. Constant evaluation of production line is required.

  • Works closely with High Performance Work Team, Mechanics, Quality and Engineering during daily “huddles” to track safety, quality and live production, and ensures IOS Standard for Crew and Production Rate is reached every hour to meet customer’s deadlines and quality standard.

  • Redzone Productivity and Compliance module experts.

  • Responsible for the accurate input and maintenance of downtime reason codes into Redzone (where Redzone is applicable).

  • Minimum H.S. Diploma or GED.

  • Two to three years’ experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.

  • Production reporting accuracy is essential.

  • Excellent Communication Skills (able to read, understand and convey instructions in an efficient manner).

  • Excellent organizational, planning and time management skills.

  • Reliability, high sense of urgency while resolving issues.

  • Availability to contribute to departmental continuous improvement and training

  • Technical Mechanical Skills.

  • Leadership and initiative to perform the responsibilities described above.

  • Perform Quality checks on the line through Redzone where applicable.

  • Able to train new employees once the “Trainer” stage is reached in the High Performance Skill Matrix.

  • Ability to communicate and escalate unresolvable issues to the appropriate personnel (High Performance Line Leader, Line Technician, Area Leader, Area Facilitator, Production Manager) using EFF-CON process (Efficiency, Condition, Communication and Response Process).

  • Ability to solve production problems by RCCM (Root Cause Countermeasure) approach.

  • Understands and follows company’s guidelines (SOP’s and Standard Work) when: Operating Equipment, setting up, starting up, shutting down production lines, troubleshooting during and post production.

  • Able to communicate instructions within a High Performance Work Team (HPWT) to achieve quick change overs and contribute to production efficiency improvements.

  • Responsible for conducting preventive and autonomous maintenance on the production line based on a Preventive Maintenance Schedule.

  • Participate in cross functional team for early equipment management and automation solutions.

  • Key player in the continuous improvement/Lean Manufacturing Technique implementations/practices (such as TPM, SMED, 5S, Andon, Poka Yoke, etc.), downtime tracking/reduction, department process flow, product/material flow, equipment modification projects, etc.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Reports to Area Leader on all tasks given in a timely manner.

Qualifications:

  • Basic English Communication Skills Required (able to read, understand and convey instructions in an efficient manner).

  • Strong Leadership abilities and initiative to perform the responsibilities described above.

  • Self-motivated; Ability to work independent of supervision.

  • Excellent organizational, planning and time management skills.

  • Ability to collect and enter data.

  • Reliability, high sense of urgency while resolving issues.

  • Customer focused; Must be flexible in dealing with others in the organization, and with work assignments/projects.

  • Ability to stand and move as needed to perform job duties for length of shift.

  • Availability to contribute to departmental Continuous Improvement and training.

  • Available to acquire/develop Entry Level Technical Mechanical Skills and ability to use basic hand tools.
